Contrary to the hint given by the leader of Akure chapter of the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Okechukwu Okorie, that the Igbos were making frantic efforts to reconcile with the traditional ruler of the Ondo state capital, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, the feud is said to still be lingering on.
Deji of Akure
According to the Punch, owing to the recent face-off between the Deji of Akure and the leader of the Igbo community in the town, Gregory Iloehike, the monarch has banned the title of ‘Eze Ndi Igbo‘in Akureland.
However, the Afenifere Renewal Group had also said that the evolution of the Igbo king in Yorubaland is considered to be an expansionist agenda by the south easterners residing in the state.
Speaking through its publicity secretary, Kunle Famoriyo, the group said that the title of Eze Ndigbo in Yorubaland is not backed by any customary law and is therefore considered alien.

As part of the few conditions, the Deji added to the ban ordering the title of Eze Ndigbo to be reviewed and replaced with a non-controversial honorary title.
The feud had resulted from a clash between the youths in Akure and the Igbos over an alleged insult of the Deji of Akure, and led to shop owners refusing to open for business.
Daily Post had reported that the youths were furious over the manner Iloehike allegedly addressed the Deji in his palace when he (Iloehike) was invited.
Having instructed that the dethroned Iloehike must apologise for his unruly behaviour in at least three national dailies as well as go on air to also tender an apology, the Oba also ordered him to write a letter of apology to the monarch and the Deji-in-council.
Oba Adelusi also directed that the Igbo leader should stop wearing any form of crown and must comply with all the directives of the palace.
