Erik Roner, an extreme sports athlete who starred on the MTV series Nitro Circus, died on Monday in a freak skydiving accident.
He was 39 years old.
The tragic incident took place when Roner was conducting a skydiving performance at an Olympic County, California resort golf event, according to Placer County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Sources confirm that Roner was caught in a tree while attempting to land, becoming entangled high above the ground.
Rescue personnel were successfully removed Roner from the tree, but he was pronounced dead from his injuries at the scene.
"We lost a member of our Nitro Circus family today," wrote Nitro Circus star Chad Kagy on Facebook. "We are all heart broken and surprised to lose Erik Roner."
In addition to his appearances on Nitro Circus, Roder was part of the Outside Television family as the host of the network"s Locals series.
He is survived by his wife and two kids.
"There are no words that can express this tremendous loss to the Outside Television family. Erik was not only a colleague, but also a personal friend, and it was a joy to watch him celebrate life on a daily basis. We are still trying to process this tragedy," said Rob Faris, Senior Vice President of Programming and Production at Outside Television.
"Our hearts go out to his family."
